    Books & Brunch

Photo on 7-28-17 at 5.21 PMToday my daughter Journee and I had an indoor Mother-Daughter Day. Books and Brunch were in the cards. The menu was inspired by our recent stay at the Embassy Suites. We indulged in over-easy omelettes, deep fried potato wedges,  toasted bagels and sweet juicy watermelon. We read, ate, and read some more, until we were half way through Amerincan Girls Gabriela. We both love the arts, so the story took over us from the beginning. Journee’s love for dance and my love for poetry was fused with Gabriela McBride’s love and passion for them both. As she tries to save Liberty Arts Center she is faced with personal and community challenges. Although we’ve read several books/stories this summer, this read inspired our first Little Glam Readers post of the summer.

    Journee’s Say:

I think its awesome because I am a dancer and my my mom is a poet so we both can relate to Gabriela. My favorite parts so far are Gabriela tapping in her mom’s class, meeting her cat Maya and her mom finding out the good news. As far as brunch the omelette was “scrumdeliocious”! My dad would be proud.

    Little Glam Readers

Little Glam Readers officially started their book club today. The club was started by Indiya Brooks, 8, Chicago, Il and Journee Jones, 6, Memphis, TN. The two girls are cousins who like most little girls in their age group love to play dress up, model and present shows to family and friends, but for this unique duo reading and writing is just as much fun. They love to read and  write! Often times you will find them writing songs to perform, creating stories and plans for their shows. They are also pen pals. Indiya presented the idea late June in her lofty list of things to do for the summer of 2015. Of course the two Little Glam Readers have similar interest but their skill set differs due to their ages and grade levels.
